Two trips

I'm not sure I have shared this or not. When we go to Ukraine we are planning on making two trips. There is just no way we can be gone for 5 or 6 weeks straight. In addition to that little bit of info, I will probably be making that second trip alone. I was really reluctant to even think about this possibility until I found out that Nataliya and Tami were traveling alone. They are so inspiring and each day I read more and more about their trip, I keep thinking to myself, "I can do that."

I just hope that I travel at the same time as somebody else that I have gotten to know in the blogging/adoption community, and that maybe we can hook up for lunch or something.

It could happen.

I hope that person can be me!! :) We plan on doing one long trip, but it's possible my husband may have to leave after a while, but I hope not. I'm scared to death to be there alone! :)

I stayed when DH left and I remember thinking...I want to go home too!! Dont leave me here!

But after thinking it all out, for me to travel a whole back to Kyiv, then a day to return to US, recovering one day, working a few days (I would have returned to work to save leave) and then taking two days to get back to Ukraine and one day to get to the region, it just didn't seem cost effective for us. So I stayed and it really wasn't so bad.

The only problem I had was no Americans were in the region (the NAC had just shut down so no new people). I was desperate for someone to talk to without an accent!

I am praying about this exact same thing. I am not sure if JC should come back and be with the children and continue to work. He can take the family leave act so he will get the time, but we will not be getting paid for it. I don't know what to do and I have a fear of traveling back without my husband. I wish I was further along in the process and could be there around the time you are, but we still have a long time yet. :(

I know you can do it. Yes, these other women have shown us so much and given us so much inspiration.

You can do it. I have to admit when Meshack first left I thought I was going to lose it. I was at one of the lowest points of my life. But God has done so much for me in these last two weeks. He has provided friendship with other Americans and given me the strength I've needed to get stuff done on my own. He'll do the same for you. ((hugs))

We'll be here cheering you on if you do make the second trip alone (and if you are not alone)!! I know it's not the same as having someone there with you - but I can't tell you how much we appreciated your comments (and everyone's comments) while we were over there. It's like a little CARE package each time you get a comment!

Yes, 2 trips is a very good idea. After the first trip you'll be familiar with the area, so it won't be so scary. I was so mentally exhausted after the first trip, I really needed to go home and recharge. The second time it was much easier.

I'm sure you'll be able to meet with your blogging friends. I met with Tami and Kathy, and it was so cool!

I actually enjoyed the one trip I went on by myself. You'll do great!

I too traveled alone back to Ukraine to pick up Macey. Trust me if I can do it anyone can!! I won't say there weren't times that I felt weak and/or even cried but I did it and I am sure God gave me the the ability to stand taller than my actual 5'2 self and gave me the strength and courage to finish my journey. (I tend to me meek with no authority)
