A miracle

I can't believe all the different things that I have heard about Ukraine right now. No two families seem to be having the same experience. Many families have been having successful SDA appointments while others are coming home empty handed because they weren't shown healthy children. Even amongst all of this uncertainty, I know that God has our child picked out for us. I just know it. And though I can't stand all of this uncertainty, it is kind of exciting because whatever happens next to get our adoption moving will be nothing short of a miracle. And who doesn't want to witness a miracle?

This waiting is enough to kill a person.

I'm with you! When I hear of all that's going on--or not--it could be so easy to freak out, despair, give up, or any number of things. But when God makes it clear what He wants you to do, He will open the doors that need opening...in His timing. I pray for Him to care for the orphans and to make it possible for them to be adopted by Christian families. And I pray that the hearts of those at the SDA will be opened to what He wants for the children!

I believe that your child was already conceived for you. The rest is up to you. You've taken the first step, which is to prepare for adoption. Next, you just have to go and bring him home!!
God Bless you on your journey.

It's sort of like listening to pregnant woman generalize about their condition. Everyone is different. Every child is different and every experience in adding that child to your family is different - whether it's bio or not. Have fun with it. The whole process is very exciting.

That's a very positive way to think about it. Like my mom said above, the process is different for everyone, and I believe a lot has to do with how you approach it. The waiting is definitely the hardest part. However, despite all the uncertainty and lack of control during our adoption, it was comforting to know that my children were out there somewhere, waiting for us too.

The thing I had to keep reminding myself during our whole trip (and you know what an ordeal THAT was) was that the SDA wasn't in control, the facilitators weren't in control, our translator wasn't in control and we CERTAINLY weren't in control of what was going on around us.
God was.
And He is...
And He will continue to be.
None of it was in our own timing. None of it was under our control. But there was a lot of comfort in the fact that there was a purpose and a plan for every experience we went through.
No matter what happens on your trip, God is right there with you. In control of the whole situation. Open your heart to whatever He has planned for you and then buckle up and grab your Pepto! It's going to be a GREAT ride!

Hi Christine,

You visited my blog, so I now I can see where you are adopting from. When I saw your picture I knew I knew you! Sure enough, Tami is on your blog roll. She is one of my blog friends. We are adopting from Ethiopia. We are adopting two girls and possibly one boy. We have six boys of our own -from 3-16.

I will now follow your blog! I loved following Tami's. Ukraine adoptions are so different from Ethiopian ones!

Blessings, Justine

Wow!! I just checked out your family blog. You have a BEAUTIFUL family!! The funny thing is, when I was originally posting to your blog I thought you would think 'what a big family' cause we have six boys and are hoping for three more children to join us through adoption. How funny!! YOU have a big family!! I shall enjoy following your blogs!

Blessings, Justine

I hope that ours will as well.
Best wishes,

Hi Christine,
Are you "in line"? I totally sympathize with where you are at. We were in a situation last October, but I'm feeling good where we are at now. I hope all this waiting works out for you as well. We'll keep you in our prayers.

I love the way you've described it...and you're right, it's great to be able to witness the miracle.

Cling to the things you know to be true about God and his plans for you. That's what helped us deal potential bad news or just deal with the waiting.

Praying for you.
